چکیده

Proton exchange membrane fuel cells present a large number of difficulties for controller design, such as severe nonlinear dynamics, sign change in gain of the plant and possible starvation of the reactants. In this paper, we have presented an approach for circumventing these types of problems. The proper selection of manipulated variables, using an RGA analysis, circumvents the problem of sign change in gain. In this case, we have used the inlet molar flow rates of hydrogen and coolant as the manipulated variables to control the average power density and solid temperature. For overcoming the severe nonlinear dynamics of the PEMFC, we have designed and implemented a nonlinear internal model controller for the PEMFC. The simulation results show that the settling time for NIMC is small as compared with a linear IMC based PID control scheme.

Robust Fuzzy Gain-Scheduled Control of the 3-Phase IPMSM

This article presents a fuzzy robust Mixed - Sensitivity Gain - Scheduled H controller based on the Loop -Shaping methodology for a class of MIMO uncertain nonlinear Time - Varying systems. In order to design this controller, the nonlinear parameter - dependent plant is first modeled as a set of linear subsystems by Takagi and Sugeno’s (T - S) fuzzy approach. Both Loop - Shaping methodology and...

Model Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation

This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...

Order Reduction of a Distributed Parameter PEM Fuel Cell Anode Gas Channel Model

Distributed parameter modeling is required to accurately consider space variations, which are important regarding the performance and durability of the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) [1-3]. However, the number of differential and algebraic equations (DAE) obtained from the discretization of a set of partial differential equations (PDE) is very large, and this not only slows down th...

Adaptive Approximation-Based Control for Uncertain Nonlinear Systems With Unknown Dead-Zone Using Minimal Learning Parameter Algorithm

This paper proposes an adaptive approximation-based controller for uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown dead-zone nonlinearity. Dead-zone constraint is represented as a combination of a linear system with a disturbance-like term. This work invokes neural networks (NNs) as a linear-in-parameter approximator to model uncertain nonlinear functions that appear in virtual and act...

Potentials of Evolving Linear Models in Tracking Control Design for Nonlinear Variable Structure Systems

Evolving models have found applications in many real world systems. In this paper, potentials of the Evolving Linear Models (ELMs) in tracking control design for nonlinear variable structure systems are introduced. At first, an ELM is introduced as a dynamic single input, single output (SISO) linear model whose parameters as well as dynamic orders of input and output signals can change through ...
